Why does it seem that most places you buy alcohol/beer from ...the people who sell it seem "obnoxious"?

I haven't really noticed that much, but I imagine it's because it's a minimum wage job. They have to keep the store clean, deal with surly customers, and clean the bathrooms. But they have to pay the bills and if that's the only job they can get, they're stuck with it.
