Lens Compatibility with Close-Up Macro Filter?

I have a Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II DX ED AF-S Zoom Lens. I was thinking about purchasing a 1 +1 +2 +4 +10 Close-Up Macro Filter Set. I've never used a macro filter before so I'm not sure if they are compatible with my lens. So, will my lens support a macro filter? If not, why? If so, are macro filters useful or does the camera lens do a good enough job without needing additional magnification? Note - I like doing macro photography (flowers, insects, etc.). Any insight will be helpful. Thanking you in advance for your time.
