How does money donated to a cause through 'Virign Money Giving' get to the charity?

I am fundraising for a charity and have linked my fundraising page to the registered charity. When people donate to the cause, how does the money reach the charity? Does the money go straight to the charity as and when its donated? Or does it come to me and i have to give it to the charity?
